After a PBL workshop in August 2013, Dr. Matthews, Novi's superintendent, and RJ Webber, assistant superintendent, offered a great opportunity for teachers to join a PBL Cohort for sustained and embedded professional development in project based learning and technology integration. Through grant monies, Myla Lee would support those cohort members in implementing meaningful, standards-based PBL and technology for two years. Currently, there are thirty teacher leaders from Novi Middle School, Novi Meadows, and the all the K-4 elementary buildings committed to implementing project-based learning in their classrooms. Over 45 NCSD teachers have been trained in project-based learning. Through observation, reflection, lesson modeling, and collaboration, the primary purpose was to grow PBL teachers who were able to integrate technology meaningfully.
