K-7 Standard E.ES: Develop an understanding of the warming of the Earth by the sun as the major source of energy for phenomenon on Earth and how the sun’s warming relates to weather, climate, seasons, and the water cycle. DRIVING QUESTION
How can we, as Michiganders, explain Michigan's weather and four seasons? (Co-written by 1st grade students - See below) INTEGRATED TECHNOLOGY

ENTRY EVENT
School Secretary called students to office to explain her problem. Problem with new students and families registering at our school and not knowing about Michigan's weather, seasons and appropriate dress for the weather. School secretary asked students to help her because she doesn't have time to teach them all of this. UNIT SUMMARY
Students are researching Michigan's weather, seasons, and safety precautions in order to teach new families to our state what to expect and how to dress in Michigan. They are preparing a Weather Watchers Website and a pamphlet for new families to use to learn about Michigan's ever changing weather. See www.firstgradechalktalk.blogspot.com |
